The
West Tampa Flavor
The historic
warehouse district of
West Tampa was
established by and served home to Tampa’s earliest settlers. In 1886 the
cigar tycoon, Ignacio Sanchez y Haya opened the first of his hand-rolled
cigar factories in West Tampa and what later became nearby
Ybor City. Since
that time, West Tampa has witnessed itself and the surrounding districts
grow into centers of business,
high education,
entertainment and social activity. In the midst of great change over the
years, West Tampa has remained a place of authenticity and city pride – still
boasting its oak-canopied, red-bricked roads.
Today, the area plays stage to some of Tampa’s best eateries, shops,
nightlife and more. And, as the district grows in popularity, new
developments like The Vintage Lofts at
West End have
ensured The West Tampa Flavor will live on.
